Corporations: Search Strategy

G&S responds quickly and efficiently to requests for recruiting assistance.  We engage with the hiring attorney or human resources representative to develop a profile of the specific requirements of a particular position.  We also obtain information regarding the company's business, the function of its legal department, the departmental make up, substantive areas of expertise, advancement opportunities and compensation policies.  Such information allows G&S to be more effective in identifying appropriate candidates, in screening out those with incompatible experience and in expanding the pool of candidates to include those not otherwise actively engaged in a job search.  We do this promptly and confidentially without disclosure of the corporation’s identity.

The search parameters are reviewed with all of G&S' recruiters and research assistants, who then utilize our extensive proprietary database to identify suitable attorney candidates.  In addition, our recruiters each maintain a network of personal and professional contacts that represents a source of additional experienced attorneys who, while not actively seeking a career change, may consider new and challenging opportunities. To supplement our direct recruiting efforts, G&S maintains a highly visible advertising schedule in a variety of newspapers and journals serving the legal profession and posts positions on our interactive website.

To ensure that the qualifications, goals, personality and character of an attorney candidate are compatible with the needs and philosophy of a prospective corporation, G&S evaluates the capabilities of the candidates in personal interviews. Once we have determined that a prospective candidate possesses the type of experience and qualifications relevant to a company's objectives and that the company offers the type of opportunity the individual is seeking, we present the qualifications of the individual to the employer.  As the process continues, we facilitate the interview schedule, assist the company in effectively representing its strengths and the benefits of the position, provide feedback from the candidate's perspective, conduct reference checks and assist in designing and negotiating compensation packages.
